Once upon a time, there was a young woman who loved to draw. It was the one thing she felt she was half-way good at doing, and maybe it wasn’t worth anything monetarily, she gained great pleasure from the process. Any opportunity to practice was a chance to get better and hone her skill, and she did a lot of “on spec”, also known as working for free.
Eventually that paid off, and she was hired to work as a full time illustrator for The Vermont Country Store, a mail order catalog. Additionally, she worked freelance creating logos, spot illustrations for local businesses and organizations, and illustrated stories for Sage Woman, a national magazine.
Below are a few examples.
